A brief history

How did Edmonton come to be? The story begins with Indigenous peoples, primarily the Cree and Blackfoot nations, who have inhabited the region for thousands of years. In the late 18th century, European fur traders from the Hudson's Bay Company arrived, establishing Fort Edmonton as a trading post. Since the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway, it has evolved into a thriving metropolis known for its cultural diversity, strong economy, and welcoming atmosphere.
