Highlights and Hidden Gems

Barron Canyon

This lesser-known gem in the park’s east features a canyon, over 300 feet deep, carved by glacial meltwater. Hike the Barron Canyon Trail for breathtaking clifftop views, or paddle the Barron River below for a completely different perspective.

Ragged Falls

Easily accessible from Highway 60, Ragged Falls is one of Ontario’s most picturesque waterfalls. A short trail leads to roaring rapids and tumbling white water – perfect for a picnic stop, photography, or a refreshing walk after a long drive.

Lookout Trail

Things to see and do

Canoeing and kayaking 

Algonquin is best known for its network of lakes and rivers, ideal for canoeing and kayaking. Glide through still waters surrounded by towering trees, and you’ll soon understand why this region is considered the spiritual heart of Ontario’s outdoors.

Wildlife watching 

Algonquin Park is the perfect destination for wildlife spotting. Home to diverse wildlife be on the lookout for, Moose, black bears, beavers, Sea otters and birds of prey.

Hiking

Algonquin Park is a haven for nature lovers and is home to countless stunning hiking trails. Wander through quiet maple forests, past beaver ponds and rocky lookouts, with trails like Beaver Pond Trail, Centennial Ridges, and Mizzy Lake offering a range of terrain and difficulty. 

Fishing

Visit in late September or early October for a dazzling display of red, orange and gold. Algonquin is one of the best places in Canada for autumn colours, with its mixed forests turning into a painter’s palette of warm hues. Drive the Highway 60 corridor or hike to elevated lookouts for unforgettable views of endless forest bathed in autumn light.

Huntsville
