In 2015, I set off on a two-year world journey and was lucky enough to spend 3 months in Hawaii and 3 months nestled between the beautiful mountains of the Kootenays in Canada. Along the way, I stayed with locals and really learned about each place.
Hawaii is an absolute tropical paradise, one of the earth's most beautiful creations. Each day, I would explore the area surrounding Hilo, relaxing on black sand beaches and watching whales dance in the ocean. Discovering the colourful flowers and the abundance of amazing produce growing everywhere. From massive pineapples to avocados and passionfruit and the world of citrus.
The Kootenays in British Columbia is stunning and I was surprised every day by the natural beauty of this place. The locals are so warm and friendly, always smiling and welcoming. The weather was lovely and warm during the summer and there are so many crystal clear lakes and rivers to cool down in. The wildlife is what made this place extra special for me. Deers prancing around and wondering if there is a grizzly bear nearby. Cougars and elk, the wildlife is so large and wandering around so freely, it is truly a unique experience.
My time in North America ended with eloping in Las Vegas! My husband and I rented a convertible and had our wedding photos taken nearby in the town of Nelson. What a whirlwind adventure and a trip that will forever remain in my heart.
